A Beginner’s Guide to Manifestation

You're probably familiar with "manifestation" or "the law of attraction," concepts popularized by the bestselling book "The Secret" in 2006. Authors like Rhonda Byrne and thought leaders including Deepak Chopra and Oprah have endorsed the idea that you can manifest anything you desire.

Personally, I've been immersed in manifestation since childhood, believing in the power of thoughts to shape destiny. Recently, I had the privilege of meeting Kathleen Cameron, a highly sought-after manifestation coach. With over 100,000 success stories to her name, Kathleen has a unique approach to helping people attract love, money, and success into their lives.

Eager to explore manifestation further? In my conversation with Kathleen, we delved into her background, her methodology, and answered common questions about how you can start manifesting abundance in your own life.

Q: What is manifestation?

A: You manifest you. Conscious manifestation is the act of bringing a thought, a dream, an upgraded version of yourself to fruition.

Q: What are the clear, actionable steps you teach for manifestation?

A: I teach a 4 step manifestation process —

  • Step 1 : Become aware of your current thoughts, feelings and actions. These are the cause to your current manifestations, your current life you see outside of you.

  • Step 2: Become aware of what you would like to have in your life, possessions, experiences, quality of life, relationships, impact and purpose, etc. Being specific is very important.

  • Step 3: Ask yourself, are my current thoughts, feelings in actions in alignment with the version of myself who is experiencing this “upgraded” life?

  • Step 4: Take action in the physical world to “BE” the new version of yourself, the universe responds and your outside world will start to change.

Q: What makes your method different?

A: The way I teach manifestation is very different. I teach to use feminine energy with the masculine energy but also using your connection to spirit/universe/god  in your manifestations. While past methods of action and motivation were helpful, the feminine energy of ease and flow and using principles of attraction make our work much easier. Working hard is not the only way, there are ways to create success in your life that involve rest, meditation and fulfilment. It can be easy, if we allow it to be.

Q: What are the biggest misconceptions about manifestation?

A: The biggest misconception I have heard is that manifestation is woo woo or unscientific, while it is the opposite. The universal laws are real and are deeply rooted in science. This information is not new, just becoming more accepted.

A second misconception is that you need to journal repeatedly, use crystals and cards in order to manifest but the truth is, all you need is YOU. Study of these principles and applying them to yourself is key.

Q: What are three things someone can do every day to help manifest the life of their dreams?

A: Start using your imagination. What would you love and how would it feel to have it? Speak as if you already have what want – own this version of you! Surround yourself with positive activities and positive people.

Q: Manifestation is about being clear about what you want. How detailed should you be?

A: I teach people to be very detailed. Write down, make a vision board and speak into existence all that you would like. Since manifestation is creation, it is important to make sure you choose as many details as possible. I always say, the universe likes clarity.

Q: How do you eliminate fear and negative thoughts?

A: Awareness of what makes you scared and what your negative thoughts are is the first step. The next step is the decision to make a change, the desire to change the automatic pattern. If you don’t want to be scared and have negative thoughts, then how do you want to feel? I chose thoughts of love, gratitude, joy, peace and ease. The next step is to replace. Notice your thoughts and change them when they are not in alignment with how you want to feel.

Q: What are limiting beliefs, and how do you get rid of them?

A: A limiting belief is a current view we have of ourselves in relation to the world that “limits” our potential rather than empowering us. For example, “I need to lose weight to be successful”, “I’m too young”, “I don’t have enough experience”, etc. Acknowledging and then replacing the limiting belief will be a game changer for you.

I am successful NOW in the body I am in, I have more than enough experience to make a difference, I am at the perfect age to create change in this world, are all empowering thoughts that change your behavior. If you believe you can, YOU WILL.

We don’t need to change who we are, but see the power we have within. Changing a belief about yourself will change what you bring into your physical world and the difference you make on others. Something that you once saw as a liability can become on of your greatest strengths.

Q: Any tricks to maintaining a positive vibration?

A: Being in a positive vibration is a choice. I believe I am responsible for my own feelings, thus no one can have control over it. We use the word emotion or use “feeling” words to describe our vibration. I feel happy, I feel sad, I feel stressed, I feel grateful.

You can manifest feeling good by entertaining thoughts of what you love and what you would like to have, versus thoughts of what you don’t love or want in your life.  What you focus on grows, focus on gratitude and more to be grateful of will come into your life. The more love you give, the more love you will feel. There is good and bad in everything, by law, but we can give life to the good only and make it grow.

Other tips include doing things that make you feel good like listening to music, going for a walk, reading personal growth and development books, etc. And always be intentional with who and how you spend your time.
