48 Hours in Pebble Beach: An Escape to Casa Palmero
The drive from Los Angeles to Pebble Beach is just under five hours, making it an easy yet scenic escape up the California coast. A stop in Montecito for brunch at Lucky’s, a detour through Big Sur to take in the beautiful coastline and then a stop in Carmel-by-the-Sea for some shopping at local boutiques and to peruse art galleries turn the drive into an experience of its own. My destination, Casa Palmero, was an intimate 24-room retreat within Pebble Beach Resorts that feels more like a private estate than a hotel—because it once was. Originally built in the 1920s as a Mediterranean-style residence, the property was later transformed into an exclusive guest retreat, offering a level of privacy and personalized service that sets it apart from the other properties in the area.
Upon arrival at Casa Palmero, I was immediately struck by its understated elegance. Tucked away behind lush gardens and ivy-clad walls, this 24-room estate feels kind of like a secret and the perfect reason to slow down. The personalized service is impeccable—from the warm welcome at check-in to the dedicated staff who anticipate your every need. My suite was plush and comfortable, with a cozy fireplace, a deep soaking tub, and a private patio and a jacuzzi.
Casa Palmero is an intimate retreat where you can truly unwind and relax . Guests have exclusive access to the private Casa Palmero Lounge, a cozy space with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and cocktails each evening, breakfast delivered to your room in a picnic basket each morning, as well as easy access to The Spa at Pebble Beach, one of the most renowned wellness destinations in California. Here’s the perfect itinerary for 48 hours in Pebble Beach—though I found myself wishing for more time!
